Homeless Prevention & Rental Assistance Programs<\/span><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

The City of Gardena (“City”) currently has funding for multiple rental assistance programs designed to support Gardena residents experiencing housing insecurity. These programs differ in scope, services, and eligibility requirements, and are administered by the Human Services Division. The programs are specifically designed to serve individuals and families who meet certain income limits and are at risk of homelessness or currently experiencing a housing crisis. These programs prioritize at-risk households by providing financial support and housing stability resources to help prevent displacement and promote long-term housing security. Applicants will need to provide specific information during the intake, and follow-up documentation will be required.<\/p>\n

The City is administering a Renter Protection and Homelessness Prevention (RPHP) program to address housing instability, reduce evictions and displacement, and prevent people from falling into homelessness. The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) receives annual funding for RPHP initiatives from county sales tax Measure A and is partnering with the City of Gardena. This assistance is intended to be temporary, short-term, and available to individuals and families who are currently housed in order to prevent the loss of housing or to resolve a housing crisis. As part of the assistance process, participants are required to engage in case management to explore safe and cost-effective options for resolving their housing crisis.<\/p>\n

The City is also administering the State’s PLHA (Permanent Local Housing Allocation) Rental Assistance Program which assists Gardena residents who are experiencing financial hardships that are preventing them from paying their rent, and those who are experiencing homelessness and are moving into housing in Gardena.<\/p>\n

Once your intake form has been received, staff will reach out to provide<\/strong>
\nfurther steps within three (3) business days. Please complete only one form<\/strong>
\nper household.<\/strong><\/p>\n
