The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to serve as the Chief Executive Officer for the City and is charged with the responsibility for the efficient and effective administration of all City operations. The City Manager appoints Department Heads and members of the City Manager\u2019s staff, with Department Heads selecting staff within their own departments.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

ADMINISTRATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

The City Manager is responsible for the big-picture issues affecting the community and the organization, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

  • Directs and manages the day-to-day operations of the City<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Continually assesses responsiveness to citizen and business needs, organizational efficiency<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Oversees the allocation of City resources and all programs and expenditures<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Recommends amendments and revisions to City ordinances, policies and initiatives<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Proposes an annual budget for City Council adoption<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Advises the Council on financial, economic, legislative and other issues that affect the City<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Economic Development Strategies and Project Management<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Debt-service financing<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Operational efficiency<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Strategic planning<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Oversight of the Non-Departmental programs and budget<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Risk Management and Self-Insurance Funds for General Liability, Workers\u2019 Compensation, Health Insurance and other employee benefit programs<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Legislative Analysis and Advocacy<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Special Revenue Funding<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Housing Rehabilitation, Fair Housing Services, and the Rent Mediation Board<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Property management for Village Mobile Home Park<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Special Projects as set forth by the City Council<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Compliance with regional mandates such as AQMD, ADA, OSHA<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
