Engineering

Responsibilities

Public Works Engineering is primarily responsible for the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which ensures the continual improvement of the City’s infrastructure and public facilities, including streets, sanitary sewers, storm drains, traffic signals, street lighting, park facilities, and city buildings.
Additionally, the division is responsible for reviewing, permitting, and inspecting private and utility activities in the public right-of-way, as well as creating property maps and other documents for official record-keeping. Engineering coordinates with Southern California Edison to provide effective street lighting through the Consolidated Lighting District. The City’s water services are provided by the Golden State Water District.
