The Gardena Beautification Commission

Comprised of nine members, including a Councilmember (as Chairperson), eight citizens and a few staff advisors, this Commission is involved with all aspects of improving the physical environment of Gardena. Commission projects include elimination of graffiti, beautification of streets and parkways, tree planting, and other related activities.

The Commission meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber Management Information Center (MIC) located at City Hall. For more information, please contact Staff Liaison Tiffany Alcaraz at (310) 217-9503 or via email at talcaraz@cityofgardena.org.

Home of the Month Eligibility and Rules

  1. The homeowner must be in good standing with the City.
  2. Winners and selection criteria are determined at the sole discretion of the Commission.
  3. City of Gardena employees and Beautification Commissioners are not eligible to enter.
  4. Winners  will receive a $25 gift card, a certificate, and a temporary yard sign.
  5. A photo opportunity will be scheduled and Commisioners will visit the home.
  6. All individuals photographed must sign a release.
  7. Nominations will remain under consideration for four months.
  8. Nominations must be received at least 72 hours before a regular meeting of the Commission to be considered for that month. All other nominations will be presented at the next meeting.
  9. During the holiday season, the commission reserves the right to replace the Home of the Month contest with a holiday-themed contest of its choosing.
  10. Submission of a nomination does not guarantee selection as a Home of the Month winner.
  11. Addresses must be located within the City of Gardena’s jurisdiction.
  12. A home is not eligible for consideration if it has won within the past 12 months.
