Online Building Permit

Online Electrical Permit

These electrical installation permits apply only to non-engineered wiring.
1. Service upgrade or replacement
2. Electrical installation with voltage of less than 600 volts and up to 400 amps total load in existing office, retail and residential buildings only.
3. Kitchen/bathroom remodel for residential buildings (no structural changes).

4. Rewiring or adding devices to existing electrical circuits for receptacles, lighting, etcetera.

5. Temporary Power Pole for less than 600 volts and up to 400 amps of load.

6. Repair of damaged wiring, With no additional devices.
7. Electrical installation for electric vehicle charging in single family dwellings with up to 400 amps of service. (Including any needed charging equipment, service upgrade, receptacle and associated wiring.)
8. Photovoltaic systems (available online for contractors only):
(with Approved Plans)

  • A rooftop system on a one- or two-family dwelling.
  • The total capacity of the photovoltaic system being installed is 10 kW or less.
  • No GFCI or AFCI overcurrent devices are installed in the alternating current (AC) output of the inverter.
  • AC power system shall be 120/240 volts single phase.
  • The rating of the service panel shall not exceed 225 amperes.
  • Central/String inverter systems with a maximum of two inverters with up to four strings and one combiner box per inverter.
  • Micro-inverter systems having up to four branch circuits.

1. Replumb or replace domestic water systems with 1 ½” or less water service.
2. Replacing plumbing fixtures, same type, same location.

4. Backflow prevention device in water mains 1 ½” or less in diameter.
5. Sewer cap.
6. Sewer alteration, repair or replacement. (Refer to Department of Public Works/Engineering for offsite work).
7. Low pressure gas piping systems with up to 10 outlets.

The Public Works Department’s mission is to provide emergency and essential services to protect public health and safety. The following services have been deemed critical and will be performed on a regular basis:

• Traffic signs & signal repairs
• Sewer maintenance
• Street pavement repairs
• Custodial services

Effective June 1, 2020, all street sweeping services have resumed.

All other services pertaining to aesthetic services shall be secondary or based on staff availability. These services include:

• Graffiti abatement
• Cleaning right of ways

Events
All events and gatherings until August 31, 2020 have been canceled or postponed. Recreation staff continue to monitor parks to take care of any safety issues and ensure they are clean.
Facility Reservations
All facility reservations have been canceled through August 31, 2020. Refunds are currently being processed. New reservations are not being accepted at this time.

After-School Program
The After-School Program has been canceled until Fall of 2020. Refunds will be issued to parents who have pre-paid for services.

Food Pantry
The Emergency Services Food Pantry continues to assist clients by providing food and food vouchers to City of Gardena clients. Services are provided by appointment only and behind the counter at the Nakaoka Community Center to comply with social distancing requirements.

Senior Services
The Senior Bureau is providing home-delivered meals and outreach to isolated seniors. Currently, assisting over 450 seniors. Meals can be picked up on Mondays (must have an appointment) and deliveries are scheduled on Mondays & Tuesdays.

Due to the suspension of in-person classes at various educational institutions in our service area, we are experiencing a decline in ridership and operator shortages. As a result of the actions taken at the federal, state and local levels of government, GTrans will be operating on a modified schedule until further notice. We are dedicated to maintaining service for customers performing essential activities and traveling to and from work.

Line 1X: Operating daily on its Weekend Schedule as normal. No service to Downtown LA
Line 2: Operating daily on its Weekend Schedule with early morning trips canceled
Line 3: Operating daily on its Weekend Schedule with trips every hour
Line 4: Services have been suspended
Line 5: Operating daily on weekdays only

To limit contact between Bus Operators and customers, bus fares have been suspended and boarding must take place at the rear of the bus. The front door will remain closed, and the Bus Operator will be restricted.

GTrans Special Transit paratransit service is offered on a reduced basis and is limited to essential trips only. Customers may call Special Transit Dispatch at (310) 965-8848 for the most current scheduling information.
