The Human Services Division provides a variety of services to the community. To accomplish these tasks, the Human Services Division is separated into three independent, yet complimentary areas of operation, including the Senior Citizen’s Bureau, Senior Citizen’s Day Care Center for those with Alzheimer’s, and the Youth and Family Services Bureau.
The Division provides diversified programming for the four programs which include:
- Senior Citizen’s Bureau
- support to senior citizens through information and referral services, case management, and in-home support
- daily nutritional meals at four community sites, home-delivered meals, outreach, health clinics, escort and shopping services
- Senior Citizen’s Day Care Center
- specialized care including daily socialization and recreation programs, exercise, lunch, art and music therapy, counseling, health screening, transportation, and special events
- Youth and Family Services Bureau
- services regarding resources and referrals, an emergency assistance program of food and hygiene supplies, shelter referrals, holiday “Helping Hands” program for families and individuals in need, and the Birthday Kit Program
- CARES Act Rental, Utility, and Nutrition assistance for Gardena residents financially impacted by COVID
