ETHICS AND FISCAL TRAININGS

California Senate Bill 827 requires local agencies with a public website to provide clear instructions and contact information explaining how the public can request copies of ethics and fiscal/financial training records for required city officials.

Members of the public may request the following training records:

  • Ethics training records (AB 1234 and SB 827) – Required every two years for required city officials. Training must be completed within six months of assuming office (starting January 1, 2026).
  • Fiscal and Financial training records (SB 827) – Required city officials serving on or after January 1, 2026 must complete their first training by January 1, 2028, some records may not be available yet.

HOW TO REQUEST TRAINING RECORDS

Certificates of Completions may be obtained by submitting a Public Records Act Request or contacting the City Clerk’s Office at (310) 217-9565 or by email at CityClerk.Web@cityofgardena.org.

Response Time

Requests are processed in accordance with the California Public Records Act (CPRA), which establishes timelines and disclosure requirements for public agencies.
